About Us
Illinois Saint Bernard Rescue is dedicated to acting as a shepherd for Saint Bernard dogs and puppies without suitable caretakers. We provide shelter for the homeless, care for the unwanted, abandoned, neglected, and abused, and offer medical services to the sick, injured, and lame. Our mission includes rescuing those in hazardous conditions and ensuring the humane disposition of those not sound in mind, body, or temperament.
We are committed to educating the public about the characteristics and proper care of Saint Bernards to promote compatible, loving, and lasting home placements. By educating on responsible pet ownership, we aim to prevent accidental litters and inhumane trafficking of puppies and dogs. Our efforts also focus on promoting the most humane manner of disposition for pets at the end of their journey.
In addition to our primary focus on Saint Bernards, Illinois Saint Bernard Rescue supports research that explores or improves relations between the breed and owners, sheds light on the causes of abandonment, neglect, or abuse, and enhances public understanding of the breed’s special characteristics. While our services are primarily for Saint Bernards, we do not refuse assistance to any dog in urgent need of immediate and caring attention.
